There are 40 legislative districts in New Jersey. Each district sends three elected representatives to Trenton to make our state laws. It is important for you to know what district you live in in order to cast your vote at the polls. Click the link below to find out what district you live in!

CONGRESS IS COMPOSED OF TWO PARTS: THE SENATE AND THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

THE SENATE HAS 100 ELECTED SENATORS TOTAL; 2 SENATORS PER STATE. EACH SENATOR SERVES A 6-YEAR TERM.

THE HOUSE HAS 435 VOTING REPRESENTATIVES; THE NUMBER OF REPRESENTATIVES FROM EACH STATE IS BASED ON THE STATE'S POPULATION. EACH REPRESENTATIVE SERVES A 2-YEAR TERM AND MAY BE RE-ELECTED.

HOW HAVE YOUR CONGRESSMEN AND WOMEN VOTED IN THE PAST?

Here's an example of a recent bill made into law regarding gun control:
A2759 - Prohibits possession of ammunition capable of penetrating body armor.

In the House of Representatives, this bill passed with a vote of 62 yes and 10 no.
In the Senate, the bill passed with 31 yes and 3 no.
